You may have tried to forget about someone from your past? If so, how successful have you been at it?

So, what to do if someone from your past is haunting you?

Although they may mean no harm, do you know that for a fact?

In some cases, an individual from one’s past will only want to be a nuisance in their life. They mean no physical harm, but they do want to cause some drama whenever they get the opportunity. In other instances, it becomes more than an annoying ploy to get one’s attention.

If you have someone from your past haunting you, what steps can you take to negate that problem?

Use the Internet to Work on the Problem

When you want to get to the bottom of why someone is haunting you, where do you turn for help?

One option is of course the Internet.

By turning to the worldwide web, you can do an online people search.

That search allows you to move closer to discovering where that person is now living. In some cases, you might also find out where they work, if married or divorced, and if they’ve had any run-ins with the law.

The bottom line is learning as much updated information about them as possible. This will make it easier for you to know which direction to turn in handling the matter.

You can also put social media to work in your search for someone.

With social media, you may be able to find the person you are looking for on Facebook, Instagram or other sites.

Once you do locate them, you can in all hopes get updates on where they are and what they are doing with their life.

As an example, you live in New York and were in a dating relationship with someone for several years. After it ended, that person moved to California. As such, you figured you’d likely never see them again.

Once you’ve found them on Facebook, you realize they are not only contacting you, they’re back living in New York. If the contacts become too aggressive, you start to worry for your safety and sanity for that matter.

By having as much info as you can about the person, you will at least have a better sense of what you’re dealing with.

Make Safety a Top Priority

When you have one from your past contacting you again and again, don’t overlook personal safety.

To start, make sure you are documenting all the contacts.

Whether it is phone, email, text, or even regular mail, keep a record of the communications. This can prove important should you have to seek a restraining order or get police involved.

Second, don’t change your lifestyle.

Sure, you may want to take some precautions, but you should not do a 180 when it comes to how you live your life. Often, that is what the person haunting you wants you to do. Don’t allow them to start running your life.

When you feel threatened, don’t wait until it is too late to do something about it.

If pro-active, you lessen chances of one from your past being successful in haunting you.
