Some say Boulder, Colorado is the happiest city in the United States. Located in the Rocky Mountains’ foothills, there are many things to love about this quirky, creative town. Despite its small size, it’s become a bastion of fun and entertainment for locals and visitors alike.

    Health and Fitness

With a plethora of outdoor activities, Boulder’s community is known to prioritize health and fitness. Bicycling, hiking, and jogging are all popular activities. There are plenty of beautiful trails in the region that inspire people to get out and start moving. The fitness culture is so strong that it’s known to draw many Olympians and other elite athletes. Also, the country’s highest concentration of organic food companies is located in Boulder. From all-natural nut butter to bread to tea, Boulder is home to some of the largest American health brands.

    Outdoors

It’s almost impossible to not enjoy the outdoors if you live in Boulder. At the foot of the mountains, Chautauqua is a popular vacation spot where people can hike, picnic, and stay at a cottage. The trails lead to the Flatirons, which are beautiful sandstone formations that Boulder is famous for. From springs and snowmelt, Boulder Creek runs through the city with a strong water flow.

    Breweries

While wellness is very important to Boulder’s community, many of the locals also know how to loosen up and have fun. Boulder has a high concentration of craft breweries and is home to the Brewer’s Association, where most of America’s breweries are represented. There’s also a wide variety of taprooms right outside of the city. “The Napa Valley of Beer” is a nickname granted to the region between Fort Collins, Denver, and Boulder.

    Education

Boulder ranks as the most highly educated city in the United States. With the University of Colorado Boulder, this town is known for its high volume of STEM students and professionals. Federally funded science labs pack the city, several of which can be toured. Some groundbreaking research that has changed the landscape of the natural sciences came out of Boulder. A vast array of major technology startups also flourish in the city.

    Social Consciousness

Part of what makes Boulder so great is its adherence to progressive causes such as land preservation and economic fairness. Community leaders such as Boulder City Council candidate Steven Rosenblum are working to address problems such as addiction, income inequality, and housing shortages. Boulder has a strong collective purpose that emphasizes hearing the other person out and building on that understanding.

    An Amazing Town

From marvelous trails to science labs, Boulder is a hub of magnificent things. The town’s wellness culture keeps locals in tip-top condition, and it has a history of accomplishing endeavors that other parts of the US are just starting to think about. With such an impressive track record and a strong sense of community, there’s no telling where Boulder will go in the near future. Compassion for neighbors, respect for nature, and love of life are hallmarks of this great city.
