There’s also a wide variety of taprooms right outside of the city. “The Napa Valley of Beer” is a nickname granted to the region between Fort Collins, Denver, and Boulder.

Federally funded science labs pack the city, several of which can be toured. Some groundbreaking research that has changed the landscape of the natural sciences came out of Boulder. A vast array of major technology startups also flourish in the city.

Part of what makes Boulder so great is its adherence to progressive causes such as land preservation and economic fairness.
