You depend on your insurance to help mitigate the financial burden of an accident, injury, or unexpected death in your family. You have shaped and customized your policy so that it covers all possible contingencies that you may encounter. Now that the worst has happened, your insurance company refuses to pay. They have stalled, stone-walled, and obfuscated at every turn and refused to pay what they should.

You do not have to take this treatment. If your insurance company is acting in bad faith, you do have legal options.

    Before You Sue

You should hire a lawyer with experience and expertise in this area of law. However, you need not sue straightaway. There are many reasons why your claim has not been settled. The jargon and procedures of insurance companies are not always clear. The reason you have not received your money may come down to a misunderstanding or some bureaucratic error. Your attorney will contact your insurance company directly to clarify the status of your claim. They will, if necessary, help you fulfil any requirements and submit any paperwork needed by your insurance company.

The Impact of Bad Faith Insurers

When calamity strikes, the last thing you should have to worry about is money—especially if you have kept up with your insurance premiums. If you were in an accident and the other driver does not have insurance adequate to cover the expenses that resulted from it, you should be able to count on your insurance company to step up and settle the demands of your claim. If your spouse has passed away and they were the primary earner in the family, then you need the money from the life insurance immediately. Hiring a lawyer can help expedite the process.

When You Need to File a Lawsuit

The holdup on your money may have nothing to do with mis-communication or bureaucratic bungling. The insurance company may be withholding your money from pure greed. The insurance company may have rejected your claim because your contingency does not meet some obscure or vague criterion. If the insurance company does not relent, then you may need to sue them.

An experienced lawyer will know how to take on your insurer so that you get what is owed to you. The company may have sold you an insurance policy worded to deliberately deceive you. This is illegal and will be challenged by your lawyer. The rationale for the company’s rejection of your claim may be likewise dubious and open to legal challenge.

Your lawyer will leave no stone unturned to get you justice. They will subpoena all documents related to the kind of policy you have. They will also make inquiries into the history and background of the company. If the insurance company has a history of trying to cheat or mislead clients, then your lawyer will find out about it. The case may not go to trial. The company may choose to offer you a proper settlement rather than go through a prolonged court battle.

If you are having problems with your insurance claim, then you need legal representation. You can find More Info here.
