As an active member of the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA), Michael Diaz Jr. sponsored the 46th Annual Gala. The event, which attracted distinguished guests from the law community and other professionals was also sponsored by the Diaz Reus law firm.
Guests enjoyed a charity casino, live music, and dinner. It was undoubtedly a night characterized by sophistication, flair, and grandeur. The guest list included prominent business personalities, judges, attorneys, and other dignitaries. More than 900 people packed the room at the InterContinental Miami, which made the event hugely successful.
Michael Diaz Jr. Miami Lawyer maintains a strong connection with the association. He previously served as President and a Board Member of the Cuban American Bar Association. Diaz is a strong supporter of the inspirational work done by the organization in the areas of legal advocacy. The initiative is recognized for transforming people’s lives.
Spectacular event
The event raised more than half a million dollars in donations from the over 900 distinguished guests. It lived up to its theme — The Roaring Twenties.
The attendees were treated to a live salsa band, which lit up the entire conference room. Guests to the black-tie CABA gala took to the dance floor and enjoyed the finest Cuban food. The event generated the hashtag, #ClassicCABA.
During the CABA 2020 gala, the association swore in a new president, Frances Guasch De La Guardia, a partner with Holland & Knight. The new leader specializes in insurance appellate and commercial litigation matters.
Proceeds
The marquee event, which raised over $500,000 will contribute to various causes, including pro bono legal services and scholarships for law students. The CABA Foundation Scholarship Fund benefits many students looking to further their studies and become distinguished legal practitioners.
Michael Diaz Jr. and Diaz Reus fully support these worthwhile causes. Hence, the decision to sponsor the 46th Annual CABA Gala at the InterContinental Miami.
Students benefiting from the scholarship fund are picked by a standing committee based on merit. Some of the factors considered during the scholarship reviews include financial need, references, and academic accomplishments.
The comprehensive selection process also considers students based on a personal essay submitted to the reviewing committee. The selection criteria do not take into account ethnicity, race, gender, or sexual orientation.
On the other hand, the CABA Pro Bono Project helps deserving residents in South Florida by providing free legal services. The project focuses on matters involving domestic violence, human trafficking, dependency, and immigration.
Members of the local community can take advantage of more than 25,000 free attorney hours that are available annually. The project has a positive impact on the lives of children and families requiring legal assistance through legal advocacy.
Michael Diaz Jr. and other sponsors will be pleased that the gala was a huge success and the proceeds will make a difference in the lives of local communities. It comes as no surprise that former President George H.W. Bush recognized the work done by the CABA Pro Bono Project throughout the United States.
